After a long summer hibernation rootplex awakens, and brings fresh new moody bass bumps – perfectly suited for this autumn season.
Superdub Symmetry is Xoki's followup to Shades of Ultradub, which showcased his original fusion of technoid dubstep and garage with a dark, dubby and reduced aesthetic.
This time the sound is rougher, thicker and oozing with boombastic funk momentum. Super-Symmetry starts of with an earth-rattling bass loop which gradually builds into a super-dubbefied slice of dark techy garage, with toe-tapping percussion syncopations, fat evolving synth pads and a groove to die for.
Rain Dwellers turns the pace down a notch, and starts a journey of multilayered, rain-soaked big city melancholia in a dubhouse style. Full of blurry, dusty synth chords singing the futurist blues while hazy vocal snippets float in and out of focus – like long lost memories of people and places.
Super-Magnetic marks an end to the piece, with it's instantaneous funk flowing freely beneath the ancient sounding organs, flutes and tambourines. A thick and dirty dub aesthetic is present throughout the track, with wet splashy effect patterns and a devastating bass groove.
Three slices of fine dub-infused grooveage for the people.

Rootplex brings some fresh deep vibes to the table this time with three superb machineform tracks, swinging and grooving in all the right places. First track starts out with delicious skipping beats and a dark synth stab before turning into a warm and hazy futurist garage like affair, complete with seductive vocal snippets, jazzy chord progressions, and a huge warm synth pad beaming back 90s euphoria.
Next track extends the groove with a hypnotic, bending bass pattern which twists and turns beneath the carpet of funkefied drummachine beats and delicate FM synth tones. A strange urban symphony unfolds with reverb drenched melancholic pads and soulful vocals, all sprinkled with splashing Jamaican style dub effects.
Last track takes things on a more heavy, bombastic dub ride, with rubber-like bass drops, splashy hihat patterns and dirty organ stabs. A hybrid technoid groove, morphing jazz/funk into dub, while maintaining a steady focus on the club floor.

Past present and future. It only takes this much to perfectly describe the new item in the rootplex catalog. Four pieces of angular, futurist dubs signed by ecoform, with roots reaching back into decades of electronic dance music and with a foot firmly planted in the present. But above all these pieces focus on the not yet taken steps, the evolution, the stylistic mutation – the far future.
Intro track "addiction" introduces a deep rolling groove with lush, reverberating vocals, mellow sci-fi chords and detailed sound-design. A track heavily rooted in the past with a strong garage feel in the swung beats and detroit-like chord progressions. Yet still bravely looking ahead through hi-tech eyeglasses.
"Unequal" on the other hand is all about the unknown, the exploration and fiction. With swinging yet abstract percussion patterns, bending metallic synth lines, mysterious melodies stock in deep space, and a delicate and restrained drum track pulsing away like a long lost space probe.
Title track "Init" extends this futurist tecnoid feeling with swelling metalized synth textures, boombastic low-end and strange binary melodies floating downwards like digital debris. Was it not for the strangely familiar rhythm construct, it would all sound like an alien cross of an 8bit console android and an advanced bionic creature from a utopian future jazzing out.
Last track "ekstra" pulls back into the present (almost), with skipping and shuffling beats, delicious dub chords, and a hypnotic bass groove. Yet somehow the weirdness from the above-mentioned pieces still echo and ricochet throughout the track, as if the silhouettes of cyborgs and androids are still jackin to the future beat.

Rootplex is proud to present the next chapter in hieronymus' grainy dub meditations. Four drops of the finest dub blend perfectly engineered for lazy and hazy afternoons/nights.Kicking off with the dark and dirty riddim of "opaque", featuring rough basses, textured chords and hardcore dubwise mixing technique. A delicius peace that gradually lulls us into the zen-like state that the second track "ecto" radiates off. A true epic journey of reverberating, wet soundscpapes unfoulds throughout the 10+ minute duration. At times reminiscent of the timeless "quadrant dub", with it's deep futurist feel of rain-drenched nighttime cityscapes.
Things get more pumping and heavy by the third track "going north", where dark synth stabs fluctuate and evolve on top of a rolling groove-construct. Possibly the most techno infused a hieronymus riddim has ever been – a hypnotic journey through a concrete jungle full of sonic obstacles and traps, echoing from impossible angles.
Durango ends with a free floating dubwise-groove, with intricate beat syncopations, beautiful dubby chords and delicious evolving spaces. A perfect balance of traditional and modern sonic sculpting is achieved throughout all four pieces – but it's definitely here on the last track it's most prono
Enjoy another dubby aural pleasure from rootplex and stay tuned for more deep badnees.

Once again rootplex serves a new impeccably cooked up dish of spacious, futuristic soulfood. This time the chef is Theodor Zox, an artist who needs no introduction, having gained recognition for heavy releases of tech/funk/house magic on prominent labels during the past many years.
First track "Between Lines" lurks us straight into his unique world of mystic technoid funk, where a low and heavy bassline propels a sonic vessel of super tight beats, deep chords and strange melodic patterns on a journey of futurist night-time city cruising. Slowly building and unfolding into a climax of delicious detroity stabs and hunting synth pads, it eventually dies out and reanimates into a true dub version style of it's former self. And this cyclic pattern continues onto the rest of the tracks here, where as on "Outside In" the track begins in a half-tempo jazzy groove and slowly shifts into a reduced dubstep construct.
The emphasis is on contrast and progression, and the stylistic mutation makes it hard to categorize – the moods and directions shift from dark reduced house, to hypnotic dubtech and deep and bouncey dubstep sprinkled with jazz and r'n'b. Probably the most broad and diverse release on rootplex so far. Listen, dance, nod your head and enjoy.

Picking up where the first machineform release left of - a natural continuation of the deep reduced drummmachine funk from the "one" EP.
Opening with the swinging, hypnotic, rolling beats and percussion of the first track, which gradually shifts into an uptempo jazzed up slice of space soul, this is somehow familiar territory, yet enigmatic and unclassifiable at the same time. And second track continues in the same vein, taking it even deeper with housey chords, fm synth squelches and female moans all neatly floating on top of a steaming drummachine groove from the far future.
Last track takes things into a slightly heavier and mystic realm. With tight rolling beats, super sharp edits and a magical synth progression that elevates the whole thing into a futurist space-time theme for an imaginative sci-fi romance.

Years in the making. Hieronymus' first full album is finally out! One of the driving forces of the now defunct kyoto_digital label, the master of hypnotic, ocean-deep, jamaican flavored minimalism is back deeper and wetter then ever before.
With Chapters he treats us with nothing more then a true masterpiece of grooves and textures soaked in his trademark dub-mixing style.
With the opening track "Dubbing at eleven" we find a solid, funkefied Hieronymus dub riddim that sounds like the natural continuation of his kyoto_digital years. Deep chords washed in cavernous reverberations, with a steady half-time beat driving the funk. The only thing that hints at what the album might evolve into, is the dark hypnotic bass pattern, bouncing in a way that is definitely more upbeat then what came before it.
By the third track "Fever" Hieronymus finally lifts the carpet and shows just how deep, dirty and forward thinking his dubbified drops have become. Noisy, rattling and echoing hits and scrapes, on top of a tight faded organ tone playing a steady skank groove, all get squashed by an enormously rude bassline that twists and morphs its way through the entire track.
Yes this is dub music from another dimension.
And "Chapter 12" shows just how weird and twistet this new dimension can get. With a loose and super detailed drum track hovering on top of a dirty pompous bassdrop, sprinkled with feedback delayed noises, screaming and turnng inside-out. This is as far removed from his earlier zen-like dub meditations as it can get. Yet the sense of space and physicality is even more pronounced now then before.
Ending the hour long bumpy space journey is "Midnight dub" a pure rolling dub riddim that unifies and organizes all that went on before, into a unique solid new form. It sounds very Hieronymus-like, yet more experienced and mature then before. An end and a beginning of a new era of millenial dub exploratons from the master himself.
